First ever Road E-Bike Grand Prix to take place in the French Alps
on 19-20 October 2019
Road e-bike racing is a sport that brings together both the cycling and motor sports communities for exciting competitions in spectacular venues.
The unprecedented event will take place in Aix-les-Bains with the competitive race and « Cycling for all » tours that are open to bikes, e-bikes and prototypes. The weekend promises surprises and an original show on the themes of sports, technology and ecomobility.
The Road E-Bike Grand Prix puts road e-bikes in competition for the very first time. The exceptional natural circuit around the ‘Lac du Bourget’ and up the mountain ‘La Dent du Chat’ offers a total distance of 166 km and over 4,000 meters climb on 2 laps (Climb grades HC, 2, 3 and 5). The Road E-Bike Grand Prix is organised for teams of 3 to 5 athletes with start and finish happening at Aix-les-Bains lake-side Esplanade. The public will enjoy the show as well as the presentation of sponsors and exhibitors in the event village. Spectators and amateurs will have the opportunity to ride on ‘Cycling for all’ tours of either 11km, 51km or 83km on the second day of the event.
Vital Coach Events team, recently installed in Savoie, France, explains Road e-bike racing is a sport that brings together both the cycling and motor sports communities for exciting competitions in spectacular venues. Road e-bike athletes need the mental and physical strength of conventional road cyclists, as well as the technological and strategic approach of the best electric motor pilots in order to win races.
“Coming from Dubai where I managed numerous international sports events, I see enormous potential in the growing incorporation of technology in sports. Putting road e-bikes in competition both in an athletic and technological battle by creating manufacturers (and client) teams is such an exciting prospect I could not believe it had never been done before.”
“I developed the concept in the French Alps and reached out to the bike and motor systems manufacturers to organize the first Road E-Bike Grand Prix of its kind. I can’t wait to see how the first road e-bike racers will cope with our specifically designed route and see the ranking evolution in the following Series.” Samba Ngwana, founder and CEO of Vital Coach Events.
He further explains that he is already working on the “E-Road European Series 2020” for the new sports racing teams to keep challenging themselves in an exciting competition across Europe.
